Our organization
- Is guided by our Declaration of
Principles and Values, and sets as our highest goal social,
environmental, and economic sustainability.
- Believes that a neighbourhood society should be responsive, active, engaging, and fun.
- Offers programs and services to everyone from the very young to the young at heart.
- Provides quality child care spaces for children aged 6 months to 5 years old.
- Is led by a membership of neighbourhood residents.
- Provides employment for over 50 people, about two-thirds of whom are neighbourhood residents.
- Publishes the Village Vibe, Fernwood's monthly neighbourhood newspaper.
- Provides rental space (often at no or low cost) to over 50 other groups and organizations.
- Organizes Fern Fest, our annual outdoor celebration of all things Fernwoodian.
- Has released three CD compilations of neighbourhood musicians and regularly hosts youth music events.
- Owns and/or operates programs and services out of three different facilities.
- Is proud to partner with a number of other organizations to deliver events and services within our neighbourhood.
